Dear Friends,
San Francisco deserves a proven and experienced judge: someone who has extensive and diverse legal experience, and has capably stood up for the disadvantaged. I am that judge.
I was appointed to the San Francisco Superior Court bench in June 2009, but I have always lived a life of public service. As early as my Stanford law school days, I began volunteering, and once I became an attorney I provided pro bono legal services at all times -- focusing on assistance to the poor and the needy. In 2005 I was honored with the "California Lawyer of the Year" award in recognition of my work with the Prison Law Office and Disability Rights Advocates.
I am a man from humble beginnings who has had to work hard to earn my place in the world. I was born in southeast Kansas and along with my parents, five sisters and one brother we managed to live with limited means.
I have called the Bay Area home since 1983 and I embrace the San Francisco lifestyle and values as my own. I live on the west side of San Francisco with my daughter who is a sophomore at St. Ignatius. I am a founding member of the City's largest running organization, the San Francisco Road Runners Club, and on most mornings you can find me running Crissy Field or Lake Merced. Come join me!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I am a judge recognized for fairness, wisdom and experience who will continue to serve all of San Francisco's residents -- regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or religion -- impartially as a member of the Superior Court.
I would be pleased to earn your vote on November 2.
Sincerely,
Judge Richard Ulmer
